Sorry Mando, that kinda made my point. Althea, Bird Song, Playin'> China Doll are nicely done but I don't feel the creative juices that were flowing 20 years earlier. Missing the vitality of youth I guess.

I'd have to agree. One of the common comments in The 1984 Project is that many of the "big" tunes from the earlier years seemed to be played with efficiency and time compression in mind rather than let them build and go off wandering on their own. A common one was Playin' - a 9 or 10 minute Playin' from '84 may be played well enough, but it is sorely lacking the depth and complexity of the earlier years. I called these tunes "safe" and "automatic" in my review. I'm sure whoever was in the crowd enjoyed them, but I don't think there's any argument that the songs were by now, mature.
